If there is one plugin that I was missing from gaim since I use pidgin, this was gaim-libnotify. Gaim libnotify pops-up small notification messages when you receive a message or when somebody logs in or out.

I have ported gaim-libnotify to the pidgin API, this was mainly a purpose of changing gaim_xxxxxx to purple_xxxx. But anyhow, here is the package for Ubuntu Feisty.

Grab it from Debuntu Repository [2]. Once the repository is set up, simply run:

$ sudo apt-get install pidgin-libnotify
